New England Revolution vs Los Angeles Galaxy
The Revolution dropped a 2-1 decision to San Jose last weekend in league play, and were then dumped out of the U.S. Open Cup at midweek by Kansas City. The Galaxy are making the cross-country trip after a midweek victory against Houston.
New England Revolution
Last weekend New England went into San Jose full of expectations, but poor play prevented the Revolution from going home with any points. The Revolution were coming off two good results, which were both shutouts. The problem New England has been having is finding the back of the net, something which hasn't been happening in the run of play. In fact New England has not scored in the run of play in four games, a staggering number. Rajko Lekic has been visibly frustrated on the pitch as he hasn't had many offensive chances. New England needs to improve passing in its opponents final third of the field. Relying on set pieces and penalty kicks will get the team nowhere.
Los Angeles Galaxy
Despite taking 17 shots against Houston on Wednesday, Los Angeles needed a penalty kick from Landon Donovan to scratch out a 1-0 victory. The Galaxy have had some difficulty finishing chances this season, allowing teams to hang around. Bruce Arena will want to see his team develop more of a ruthless streak and put opponents away when they’re on the ropes.
